An interesting observation are the Stone Dummies (Cairns) found overlooking this water hole.
What are Stone Dummies (Cairns) ?
According to archeologist Robert Hafey from Rachel, ancient Native American Indians hunted by hiding behind piles of rocks overlooking game trails and water holes. Most of the mounds are at least two feet in height. To date, we have found three separate areas in Lincoln County with these man-made rock mounds.
To safeguard against vandalism, the names of the featured rock art (petroglyph) sites have been changed and the locations omitted.
